Is erotic romance different?

Hi everyone -- I've been thinking about how erotic romance is different from other romance subgenres. You know, besides the sex.

So I blogged about it over at my own blog, and thought you might like to read it and check it out!

Here's the linky.

Rumors

Several of my Aphrodisia sisters sighted PURE SEX in some California bookstores yesterday, which is pretty damned exciting. And last Friday, FexEd showed up on my doorstep with 47 copies of PURE SEX. More excitement! (And don't ask me how Kensington came up with 47.) This morning, the bookmarks I ordered finally arrived.

I feel like a real writer!

Because reality was finally sinking it, I got my webmaster back to work. I had to bribe him, but neither of us minded the payment I had in mind. Especially with all of the excitement. Check out the result!

I'd jump up and down and scream some more, but I have 9 more pages to write in my single title, THE SUPPLICANT.

SWAK,
Lucinda

Guest Blogging

Take a wander over to www.annchristopher.com to see my guest post on catching the newest wave in publishing, erotic romance. Ann writes for Kensington's Dafina line and I'm very grateful for the opportunity to blog to a bunch of new readers.

I've got great news! I'm going to be in the BUILT Anthology slated for release in August/07.

So next year will be my biggest yet, with single title MIDNIGHT CONFESSIONS coming out in March, then the sequel MORE MIDNIGHT CONFESSIONS in June and with BUILT in August, readers will be sick of seeing my name on covers.

THIGH HIGH, my 3 novella anthology that's all mine will be released January/08.

Things are certainly hoppin'

Thanks for coming!

Men in Uniforms: Love 'em or Leave 'em?

Some women are fascinated by men in uniforms. I’ve never been one of them – well except for a man in a perfectly tailored suit or a pair of jeans that fit in all the right places. But those don’t count. I’m talking about men in real uniforms. Cops. Firefighters. Cowboys. Surgeons. Clowns.

I didn’t understand their appeal.

Until last week.

I was sitting outside – yes, at yet another Starbucks. But this time, I was not working. I was on vacation in New York with my friend and fellow writer, Mary B. Morrison. I had just taken a huge bite of my Banana Crème Crunch Bar and there he was. Dark hair, cinnamon skin, piercing eyes framed by long, dark lashes. And that body. His broad chest was encased in a perfectly pressed light blue shirt. Dark blue shorts were buttoned and zippered over a flab-less abdomen. Innocent white socks circled his sinfully muscular calves.

I smiled, hoping he’d catch a glimpse of my inner beauty, which was hidden behind the whipped cream making my cheeks bulge and the crumbs covering my lips.

He smiled, revealing dazzling white teeth, then nodded and walked on, wheeling a stack of boxes on a dolly.

I turned for a posterior view, enjoying the play of navy cotton over his tight ass.

"Did you see that?" I asked Mary.

"What?"

"Him."

I pointed.

She looked and shrugged. "The FedEx driver? They all look like that. It's a prerequisite to working for FedEx."

"Really?"

"Yeah." Mary nodded and leaned forward, raising a brow. "But UPS -- that’s another story."

"Oh ..."

As I finished my dessert and downed the last of my coffee, I saw other FedEx drivers making their deliveries.

They were all men.

They were all hunks.

I'd never noticed this before. Maybe because I live in suburbia where we get very few deliveries -- which would explain the cliché of suburban housewives lusting after the pool guy.

Well, I get it now. I'll take a guy in a uniform. Well, a FedEx guy in a uniform, anyway. In fact, I'm going to go schedule a pickup right now ...

Pondering the HEA

I tend to be a person who moves around a lot, and changes jobs often. I get bored with life, or lonely because I'm single and if I keep moving or doing new things, being single isn't so bad. Now, it's important that you know I'm single because I choose to be. I could have aboyfriend if I wanted, but he wouldn't be a guy that made my heart pound or my insides melt. It would just be someone to spend time with. At times I think I'm willing to settle for that, at others, I want what I write about. I want a man that can get a reaction out of me. I want someone who makes my heart kick in my chest and my body eager.

But it's hard to find. It brings to mind that maybe not everyone has a partner, or mate out there. Maybe for some people HEA is being on their own, being independant, and doing what they really want to do.

I think that's why in a lot of my stories I don't put a HEA (Happy Ever After) . I'm fond of happy right now because it seems more realistic. Do readers want reality in their stories? I think if it's sone right, then there can be the perfect blend of reality and fantasy. I do think HEA is possible, but not always in the space of the story told. Sometimes a sequel is needed, somethign that shows that life, and romance and relationships son't always fall into the pattern of storytelling. That in life there is more than one conflict, and more than one happy ending before you reach the HEA.

What do you think?

OK, so it's not quite out everywhere, but it is in a lot of places, like Barnes & Noble.

Also, I'm running a contest with chocolate as the prize (and no ordinary chocolate, I might add) over at my website, celiamayhart.com

I know, this was quick 'n' dirty......

I am pleased to announce that my Kith & Kynn series will be joining the Kensington Aphrodisia line. This came as quite a surprise, but I am pleased that my favorite vampire eroticas will become part of the Aphrodisia family. :)
