Just got my author copies!

OMG! My author copies of Flesh and the Devil are here!! I can't believe the day has arrived when I'd be holding my first NY pubbed book. I'm so thrilled. I mean, I knew it would happen. I signed contracts and got paid, went through copy edits and galley. But it never seemed "real", just some surreal fantasy I'd wake up from when the moment of release arrived. But a huge box of books arrived and they're mine. I can pick it up, hold it and say "I wrote this book!" What a totally awesome feeling.

For those who have yet to sample some Flesh , here's a link to the first two chapters of my steaming hot southern gothic vampire tale. Enjoy!

Don't forget to register for my March Madness contest and a chance to win a copy of Flesh and the Devil.

TAKE ME THERE

Hello everyone:

I wanted to show you all the cover for my paranormal Take Me There, which will be released in November 2007.

From the back cover:

Imagine the man of your dreams reaching out to you in the night…from across centuries. And he isn’t the only one. In this daring choose-your-own-adventure novel from the author of Sins and Secrets, hungry lovers separated by time and space come together to find physical passion in unearthly ways…

Can one woman love two men? Journalist Presley Knowles is about to find out the answer to that very sensual question. Her sex drive zooms into the red zone after a near-death experience in a car accident--and between Dr. Daniel Hanson, the young doctor who saved her, and Vadim, a ghostly lover from another time, she’s about to experience the ultimate in physical pleasure. Wild and willing as she wants to be, Presley gets to explore all of her wickedest sensual fantasies when both lovers share her bed…

It has been an amazing book to write, and promises to be a roller coaster ride to read.

I also want to let you all know that I will be guest blogger on Romantic Inks March 11-17.

http://www.romanticinks.com/blog/

It should be a lot of fun. I’ll be talking about my upcoming projects, including Take Me There, as well as my writing process. And other fun stuff, too!

Drop by when you have the chance. I’m very excited about it!

See you in cyberspace.

Nourishment for the Non-Procrastinating Writer

Okay, for once, I’m not writing about my latest procrastination technique. No, in fact, I am in the wine country, w-r-i-t-i-n-g. And to prove to you how serious I am about this, there’s an annual barrel-tasting event underway right now. While tourists are out enjoying the sunny weather, traipsing from winery to winery, sampling early harvest of local wines (or whatever), where am I? Indoors. Staring outside at the view, W-R-I-T-I-N-G. Sometimes, the sacrifices one must make for this craft are unbearable.

Anyway, though I am, indeed, w-r-i-t-i-n-g, even non-procrastinating writers need nourishment. So, today, I headed to the grocery store for healthy snacks. BTW – I hate healthy snacks. Anything loaded with sugar, bad fats, and spurs cholesterol levels to go skyward, has my name written on it.

I discovered this tiny organic grocery store. How much healthier can a girl get? With a sigh, I dragged my feet towards this temple of healthy food choices.

After passing through aisles of Vegan-this and Vegan-that, my heart grew heavy. Where were the products oozing with cheese? Where were the butter-laden sugar cookies? Even Whole Foods throws in the occasional decadent treat, labeling it ‘healthy’ because it contains organic unhealthy ingredients. But Vegan steak (soy-based products colored and shaped to look like steak) and Vegan cookies (no dairy, eggs, wheat, or refined sugar)? Okay, I admit it. In case the above eating habits didn’t give you a hint, I’m a Vegan snob. ‘Vegan,’ just like ‘vegetable,’ is a four-letter word in the Rachelle Chase Unabridged Dictionary.

All right, all right, enough of this rambling.

The whole point of this story is this … after being ‘forced’ to try healthy and Vegan desserts, I was shocked to discover two I loved …

The VEGAN Ginger Spice NO Cookie Cookie

Ingredients: Organic barley flour, Sucanat (granulated cane juice), Non-hydronated margarine, filtered water, prunes, molasses, ginger, real vanilla, spices, baking soda, soy lecithin.

Taste: Tastes just like a ‘real’ ginger cookie! It was moist and chewy, with just the right sweetness, and the wonderful taste of ginger.

(Sorry. I thought to write about the cookie AFTER I ate them, hence the cookie-less photo. LOL)

Wild Berry PIE-OH-MY!

Ingredients: Organic wheat flour, organic strawberries, water, organic evaporated cane juice, organic palm fruit oil, marionberries, organic whole wheat pastry flour, organic maltodextrin, rice syrup solids, organic tapioca starch, apple, raspberries, salt, natural flavors, citric acid, xanthan gum, sodium alginate (seaweed extract), guar gum, and baking soda.

Taste: Resembles a pop-tart. Only the crust is soft and fresh and flavorful, instead of like cardboard. And the inside is stuffed with soft, gooey, berries – instead of a thin line of colored stuff you think must be fruit. And it actually tastes like berries – with just the right sweetness to enhance the fruit.

I just might have to rethink this whole healthy, vegan thing. But later. Now, while munching on my forth NO Cookie Cookie, I can now get back to writing.
